THG Visit To Houses of Parliament-February 2018

A group of us from Tooting History Group had a guided visit to the Houses of Parliament last Tuesday, 20th February. The visit was organised through the office of Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan, MP for Tooting, and we were ably guided round by Pat, one of the in-house guides. We also had Tooting and Streatham connections highlighted by our Chair, Janet Smith.  One highlight was the work of art “New Dawn” by Mary Branson in St. Stephens Hall. Installed in 2016 to celebrate women’s suffrage, the coloured disks change in time with the rising and falling tide of the Thames. (See Photo below).
